Your Guide to Emirates ID Application Tracking

The Emirates ID is a mandatory identification card for all UAE citizens and residents. It stores personal and biometric data on an embedded smart chip, and ICP links it directly to the holder's residency status. A valid Emirates ID is required for banking, healthcare, property transactions, government services, and airport e-gate access.

Tracking an Emirates ID application confirms whether the card has been approved, printed, dispatched, or is ready for collection. Regular status checks help identify processing delays early and prevent late renewal fines, which ICP charges at AED 20 per day after a 30-day grace period, up to a maximum of AED 1,000.

How to Check Emirates ID Status Through the ICP Website

The ICP website provides real-time application tracking without registration or login. The process requires either a Personal Reference Application Number (PRAN) or an existing Emirates ID number.

Open the ICP ID Card Status page in any web browser. Enter the PRAN (for new applications) or the Emirates ID number (for renewal or replacement applications) in the designated field. Click the arrow button to submit the query. The system displays the current processing stage immediately.

The PRAN is a unique number assigned at the time of application. It appears on the application receipt issued by the typing centre or through the ICP Smart Services portal. For renewal and replacement applications, the existing 15-digit Emirates ID number serves as the search reference.

How to Check Emirates ID Status Using the UAEICP Mobile App

ICP offers application tracking through the UAEICP mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app provides the same status information as the website and sends push notifications when the application moves to a new stage.

Download and open the UAEICP app. Navigate to the ID Card Status section. Enter the PRAN, Emirates ID number, or passport number. Tap Submit. The app displays the current status and a history log showing dates and timestamps for each processing stage.

The UAEICP app provides access to the digital Emirates ID. Once an application reaches the Approved stage, a digital version of the card becomes available within the app and through UAE Pass. The digital Emirates ID is accepted for most transactions, although the physical card remains required for border control and certain official procedures.

How to Check Emirates ID Status Using a Passport Number

Applicants who do not have access to their PRAN or Emirates ID number can use their passport number as an alternative. The ICP Smart Services portal at smartservices.icp.gov.ae supports this method through its File Validity service.

Navigate to the Quick Services section and select File Validity. Enter the passport number and nationality. The system returns the current status of both the Emirates ID application and the linked residence visa.

The same portal can be used to verify visa validity and track visa application progress independently of the Emirates ID enquiry.

How to Check Emirates ID Status by Phone

ICP operates a customer service helpline at 600 522222. Callers can check application status by providing their PRAN, Emirates ID number, or passport details to the automated system or a customer service representative. The helpline is available in Arabic and English.

Applicants may visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre or an authorised Amer centre in person. EGSH — Emirates Government Services Hub — operates as an authorised Amer Centre licensed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai and assists residents with Emirates ID status enquiries, renewal applications, and replacement requests.

Emirates Post Delivery Tracking After Dispatch

Once the status shows Dispatched, ICP sends an SMS to the applicant's registered mobile number containing an Emirates Post tracking number. The tracking number can be entered on the Emirates Post website to monitor delivery progress.

Standard delivery takes two to five working days after dispatch, depending on the applicant's location and delivery attempts. Cards that are not collected from an Emirates Post branch within 30 days are returned to ICP.

If the status shows Dispatched but no SMS has been received, applicants should contact Emirates Post at 600 5 99999 or ICP at 600 522222 to confirm the delivery branch and collection details.

Common Errors When Checking Emirates ID Status

Several issues can prevent a successful status query on the ICP portal.

A Record Not Found error occurs most often when the applicant enters the wrong number format. New applications require the PRAN, while renewals and replacements require the Emirates ID number. Mixing the two formats returns no results. Applications submitted within the previous 24 to 48 hours may not yet appear in the system.

An Expired Card notification indicates that the Emirates ID has passed its validity date and renewal is required. ICP allows renewal up to six months before the expiry date. After expiry, a 30-day grace period applies. Once the grace period ends, a daily fine of AED 20 accrues up to the AED 1,000 cap.

A Rejected status means ICP has denied the application due to missing or mismatched documents. The applicant should contact ICP directly or visit an authorised service centre to understand the specific reason and resubmit. A separate process applies if the card has been lost or stolen and requires replacement.

Emirates ID Fees for New Applications, Renewals, and Replacements

The base Emirates ID fee set by ICP is AED 100 per year of card validity. Expatriate residents pay based on the duration of their residence visa. A smart service fee of AED 100 applies for online submissions.

Application Type Base Fee (AED) Smart Service Fee (AED) Total (AED)
New issuance — 1-year visa 100 100 200
New issuance — 2-year visa 200 100 300
Renewal — 1-year visa 100 100 200
Renewal — 2-year visa 200 100 300
Replacement (lost or damaged) 300 100 400

Typing centre service fees of AED 30 to AED 70 apply for assisted submissions. The urgent Fawri service adds AED 150 for processing within 24 hours. Fawri is available to UAE nationals and GCC nationals for all application types. Expatriate residents may use Fawri only for replacement of a lost or damaged card.

UAE nationals pay AED 100 for a five-year card or AED 200 for a ten-year card. GCC nationals pay AED 100 for a five-year card.

Emirates ID Processing Times

Standard Emirates ID applications are processed within seven to ten working days from the date of a complete submission. This includes document verification, biometric capture (if required), card printing, and dispatch to Emirates Post.

Urgent applications through the Fawri service are processed within 24 hours. The applicant must visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre in person for the Fawri route.

Processing may take longer if biometric data needs to be captured for the first time or updated. Applicants aged 15 and above must complete fingerprint and signature procedures at an ICP service centre. For new expatriate applications, the Emirates ID is issued only after the medical fitness examination has returned a fit result. Delays may occur during peak application periods or public holidays.

Late Renewal Fines and the 30-Day Grace Period

The Emirates ID must be renewed before it expires or within the 30-day grace period following expiry. ICP sends SMS reminders as the card approaches its expiry date, but the legal responsibility to renew rests with the cardholder.

After the 30-day grace period, ICP charges a late fee of AED 20 per day, up to a maximum of AED 1,000. The fine stops accruing once the renewal application is submitted or the maximum cap is reached.

An expired Emirates ID blocks access to banking, healthcare, government services, and visa-related procedures. Residents should initiate renewal at least two weeks before the expiry date to allow for standard processing.

When to Use the Digital Emirates ID

After an application is approved, a digital Emirates ID becomes available in the UAEICP app and through UAE Pass. The digital version displays the holder's name, photo, Emirates ID number, and validity dates.

The digital Emirates ID is accepted for most everyday transactions, including government service access, mobile phone contracts, and identity verification at private sector establishments. However, ICP and border control authorities still require the physical card at immigration checkpoints and airport e-gates. Residents should carry the physical card at all times, as required by law.

How EGSH Assists With Emirates ID Services

EGSH — Emirates Government Services Hub — is an authorised Amer Centre licensed by GDRFA Dubai. The centre processes Emirates ID applications, renewals, and replacements directly through ICP systems.

Lost or damaged card replacements follow the same submission route and are processed at standard government fees.

EGSH verifies documents, prepares submissions, and tracks application progress on behalf of the applicant. The centre does not issue Emirates ID cards or grant approvals. All approvals and card issuance are handled by ICP.

Can I check my Emirates ID status with my passport number?

How long does it take to receive an Emirates ID after the status shows "Printed"?

After the card is printed, ICP dispatches it to Emirates Post. Delivery takes two to five working days. ICP sends an SMS with a tracking number once the card is dispatched. The card can be collected from the designated Emirates Post branch or delivered to the registered address.

What fine applies if I do not renew my Emirates ID on time?

ICP applies a late fee of AED 20 per day after the 30-day grace period following expiry. The maximum fine is AED 1,000. Renewal can be initiated up to six months before the expiry date to avoid any penalty.

What should I do if my Emirates ID status shows "Rejected"?

A Rejected status means ICP has denied the application due to document errors, missing information, or data mismatches. Contact ICP directly at 600 522222 or visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre to obtain the specific reason and resubmit the application with corrected documents.
